What Is Executive Function and Why Is Everyone Talking About it?
Executive Function is a term used to describe a set of mental processes that helps us connect past experience with present action. We use the executive function when we perform such activities as planning, organizing, strategizing, and paying attention to or remembering details.
Executive Function affects all areas of an individual’s life – current thinking breaks executive functions skills down into three main areas of life; social, home, and academic.
Executive Functions are the foundation for ALL Learning. These crucial life skills focus on independence, positivity, resilience, and success.
There is no greater predictor of success in school, social relationships, jobs, and careers than Executive Function Skills.
These skills allow us to learn from past experiences (and not repeat mistakes) and forecast into the future so we can plan, prioritize, and problem solve – and be prepared for what’s to come.
When we do this – we can self-regulate our emotions and self-motivate toward new, challenging, and non-preferred tasks.
Independence. Positivity. Success. Dreams Achieved.

“… When I heard that Mike was doing work around executive functioning, I was quick to presume that he was doing what most people in the Philadelphia area who claim to work on executing functioning do – helping kids organize school materials. Organizing school materials is a small part of executive functioning, [but] it’s not addressing lagging executive function skills at their foundation.
When I first spoke with Mike I knew right away that he was the real deal and knew what he was doing. He was actually working on executive function skill development. I refer many families to GrowNOW ADHD.”
